Vegetarians,Vegans,and Omnivores
Hey all!

I've recently started following a vegetarian diet. As a result, I have a lot of energy and have lost weight, so I would like to keep following this diet. The trouble is, I go to college and the cafeteria doesn't offer a whole lot of food products that don't have meat in them. I have a microwave in my dorm room, but that's all. I would like to go shopping for vegetarian-friendly meals to eat when the cafeteria doesn't offer the foods that I would like to eat, and so I would like to know if any of you have any suggestions. I'm particuliarly interested in frozen dinners/pre-prepared meals.

Thank you.

boca makes taco meat so you can make tacos! also, boca makes lasagna that you just pop in the microwave, and tons of other stuff too like chili, hot dogs and burgers. also morning star and gardenburger also has really good microwavable food.

good luck!

Light Life also offers a plethora of veggie options. Vegetarian and vegan. They have microwavable meatless sloppy joe meat, taco meat, hot dogs, even pepperoni slices, (however I have not tried the pepperoni slices so i don't know how well these taste). I agree with the other commenters, Gardenburger and Boca also offer many options. My personal fave are Boca's chicken patties (which for a long time I had as an interest on my lj because I love them so much). Gardenburger's sweet and sour chik'n is great with some rice. Uncle Ben's makes microwavable instant rice in a bag that works great for this, and you can save some in tupperware for a second meal! I have a whole list of foods that my vegan friend and I devised, if you're interested just reply with your e-mail and I'll send it to you. =)

Cederlane (sp?) makes really good veggie burritos and other Mexican food for like $2 each. Morningstar makes, IMO, the best fake chicken, if you like that - even my non-veggie brothers will eat it! Amy's is okay, and they make practically everything - pizza, pasta, Chinese, Indian, Mexican, etc (personally, I think their food is a bit bland, but it wouldn't hurt to try it).

I'm a freshman in high-school, and have been a vegetarian all my life. I always bring my own lunch and half a sandwhich with whole wheat bread, veggie cheese, and veggie meat. It's very filling and delicious. :)
